Applying to Jan board 2013

Same here finished up with the recruiter on Friday. Hope ill be head to OCS soon!

Did you get any LOR's from your employers? How many people have you worked for in the past several years?

No I did not get a letter from my employer. When I asked for a LOR from my employer they said it was aganist policy to give refereces. I know the board prefers LOR's from employers but what could I do?

That is actually common, the only thing I would have said would be to get a letter from them stating their policy prevents it, or they could have given a verification of employment.
 
Yeah I should have got a policy letter. I did put them down for the back ground and security. Does that really affect my chances greatly?

Yeah I had the same issue with my current employer, but my recruiter didn't seem too worried; my previous two employers were able to fill out the references, and I got quite a few LOR's from current professors.

Hah, I went through an HR crisis to get my letter. My boss was leaving in two weeks, so I asked if he'd write a letter. I've worked faithfully at this company for four years and I've made amazing business contacts, so omitting letters here would actually be neglecting an opportunity to promote a huge swath of my experience.

After he finished, he went to get it checked by HR (Really? Just give me the letter, man, you're leaving the company). Anyway, they rejected it. I got pissed off about it and took it to the top, and after a few meetings that led up to the president of HR, they approved it. Something about "We'll make an exception because it's the fucking United States Navy."

Which is funny, because now I feel like HR has their sights drawing down on me. So I hope the Navy works out! :)

EDIT: I'm enjoying my ability to "get my way" before I potentially become an officer and forego any such leisure.

Not really, but something verifying employment just lets everyone know you aren't hiding anything, but really for Pilot your ASTB will speak volumes.
 
Conversation with my recruiter three weeks ago went something like this, "Hey, I see that you need a filled out police records form. I printed one off and filled it out." Recruiter says, "No need for that, you only need it for serious stuff, but not for tickets." Fast forward to last Thursday. Recruiter "I need a police records check form filled out immediately" Fast forward to today. Recruiter, "Hey, those police records haven't been received yet, you will have to wait until the next board. Sorry."
Bummer.

I would say that either you have many tickets or a ticket that is over a certain amount, or something other than minor traffic tickets
 
I have three tickets. Two for speeding 35 in a 25 and one illegal turn. The fine for one was 120. California tickets are higher. The hang up is that the state level hasn't responded with the information needed for the request. The information simply wasn't requested early enough. The recruiter apologized and said I could submit to the next board. I'm just bummed that I have to wait.

Well, by the manual all that is needed is a written statement saying what happened, no PRC needed, but even then if your OR/NRD was smart they would have obtained a fine chart for the local authorities like we did, the reason is the amount you pay is the fine and associated court cost, so we could see what was the actual fine minus the court cost.

Not that this matters now as you will have to wait.
