That is also not “their only chance” they could also stay in school, succeed, and get a trade/degree/life education via any number of community colleges, universities, trade schools, or just getting a fucking J-O-B and pay their bills until they decide what they want to do when they “grow up”.
I know you are not implying it, but it is worth noting these problems are not race dependent. We have seen huge increases in the number of educated or otherwise well positioned young people moving back home and just vegging out. It is the so called "failure to launch" syndrome. A very sad development for our society.

Lol. I know you’d like to think I sit in my apartment sulking but I don’t.

I think it’s worth addressing impacts people face such as healthcare, education, and crime. Many of those disproportionately affect minorities the poor. And many feel their only option is the military.
FIFY Can't say it enough. This is not race dependent. It affects all people of modest or lower means. It is well studied that white southern males with HS diplomas, modest or poor families, are the most reliable source of military enlistees.

I’m not necessarily in disagreement.

but the data can be looked at both ways that there are minorities who are disproportionately in a cycle of poverty depending on location.

either way. My point is that we could look at addressing the drivers that cause these cycles

Wink give up.. What he is saying is until we blame the white people, he/they are and will always be the victims……. He has no solutions but to lay blame and further divide the races.

And as for poverty, you want real poverty go to the homeland…. That‘s real poverty! No health care, no cell phones and real starvation and homelessness. Only in America do those in poverty have cell phones, cars, housing and are overweight!

What I don’t understand is how can an immigrant (legal and illegal for that matter) come here with nothing, and not even speak the language and somehow reach for and many times accomplish the American dream. And yet those living in the inner cities can’t. Over whelming numbers turn to crime.

Well that’s what we need to study. Which is exactly what I was suggesting

We don’t need a study. We already know the answer. It’s been said here lots! It’s called hard work! It’s that old “teach a man to fish thing…..”
Do you really think that is an acceptable answer?

There are drivers of poverty, inadequate health access, crime, and education.

the simple “hard work” won’t really address those.

I know everyone wants to believe and parrot President Reagan saying “the government can’t help you” when he’s talking to the projects in Brooklyn but it isn’t that simple.

Don't you believe that service in the military is about the best way to break a cycle of poverty? Certainly, there are homeless, under-employed and unemployed vets. But within their cohort they are small in number. Millions of poorer Americans with limited opportunity in their home towns and neighborhoods have gotten a college degree and/or a good civilian career after serving in the military. "Graduates" of purpose designed government programs meant to set people up for good paying jobs and higher education have a much lower success rate than military vets.

Brooklyn has seen a renaissance since Reagan spoke those words. The turn around for Brooklyn was not due to a big government project. Sure, I there were some government guaranteed loans, maybe some city or state tax breaks or thoughtful rezoning, but that is the best kind of government. Tee it up and let smart Americans and risk taking companies do what they do best. Brooklyn is not where it is today because the government wrote bigger checks to poor people or mandated hiring a quota of minorities. There is poverty killing opportunity in Brooklyn because of the private sector.

But you are not addressing anything. Several people here have offered points, ideas, and even broad solutions but you simply side-step them and run back to referencing skin tone. What is the difference between a jobs programs that teaches you to be an electrician and a military enlistment that teaches you to be an electrician?

I heard on CNBC that Grizlandian currency may take over the green back as the international currency of trade.
The griz-back is surely going to challenge the yuan.

Sure. To an extent.

But they also recruit people and send them off to die for BS wars.

If you’re dead or seriously injured hard to be set up for a civilian career
