I was just joking; when you get to OCS, you'll find that you're not allowed to refer to yourself in the first person, e.g. I, me, my, we, our, and so on.
Whew thanks for the heads up there. That's one of the problems this officer candidate ;) will have an issue with. I have a strong feeling I'm going to have to catch myself A. LOT.
Uh Pirate, jes' tryin' ta help!:D;)

Yeah it's a common problem, and the DI's treat it like it's the end of the world. Not sure if you can see this video, but it was posted as public, so it's worth a shot. Even though they're recruits (Marine enlisted boot camp) instead of officer candidates, it's eerily similar.

That video is awesome. If you just heard the audio, and didn't see who it was, I would definitely think it was OCS.

And Pirate, you're probably going to have to check in at Pensacola and then request leave from there. Your NLT date on your orders to Pensacola though might let you check in after the New Year. Standby to go significantly in the hole on leave if you do that though.

Don't worry about that stuff right now though. Kinda putting the cart before the horse. A lot of things can happen between now and then.

PS: The only admin duty you'll be doing in Pensacola before classing up is drinking beers on the beach and at Florabama.

And thank you for the information. You're right, horse before the cart indeed. I get a little carried away at times, but I appreciate it very much. And I love the idea behind chilling out at Florabama. I hear that's the place to be!

Spoke with my OR this morning. Asked him when I could expect to be going to OCS, and he said 3-6 months from now. So that puts me around November at the earliest, which is fine. That gives me time to get as physically ready as I want to be, although I'd prefer not to have to wait all the way until February, kind of ready to do this.

Spoke with my OR this afternoon. From what I understand, I've just been FS'd and it's just a matter of time waiting for the letter to make it to his office (which should be soon). He said the FS letter should have an OCS date on it, and estimated that OCS report date will be 1-2 months from now, although he did say it may take longer.

In other news, anyone else get a call from their investigator? I got mine today

Mine called me for a meeting like three days before my check-in date. I was like, "Uhhh, I'm free on Friday, but beyond that I'm booked solid for the next three months."
Anyway, congrats on getting your letter (sort of).

I got my Secret clearance without an interview. It wasn't until I went up for TS/SCI that I was contacted.
Ya pilots on need a secret until advanced. But I have also seen people have interviews before getting pro-Y

Had you already done MEPS prior to hearing back from the board?

I was wondering about this. I filled out all the necessary info for a TS, because I also applied for Intel, however I told my recruiter that if I was pro rec'd for SWO that I was going to do that, so he said he'd just put in for a Secret clearance for me when that happened. So I see people talking about interviews but now after your comment I'm wondering if I won't have to do that.

I should probably clarify that although I submitted the sf86 and everything with my package, my investigation was initiated by my civilian job. They are also the ones who wanted me to get the TS. Though I didn't meet with anyone for my secret clearance, 5 coworkers up for the same level at the same time all got interviewed.

So really I have zero clue how they make those decisions. Assume you will be interviewed and realise it isn't nearly as terrifying as it sounds. If you don't get interviewed? Well even better!
