My first Navy squadron was that way. VR-7 Det A in Tachikawa, Japan with mother squadron VR-7 at NAS Moffett, CA. We flew 4 AF C-121C's while mom had C-130's.VRC-30 has a permanent det in Japan that you get orders to (and moved to Japan) while the parent command is at NAS North Island.
