JAN/FEB/MARCH 2014 SWO ROLLING Boards

Met with my C.O today for my recommendation and i thought i didn't do too well. i hope this doesn't kill my package. i was also told that the board in march for SWO has been pushed back to JUNE. by my ESO (Education Service Officer)so i will start a new forum for SWO applicants looking to apply for that board. Congrats once again to all that was selected hope to see you in the wardroom soon.

Next board is scheduled to meet no more than 90 days than the previous board (Feb 25), so sometime between now and May 25th. My guess is either late April or early May.

i was told by my command that the board is 14 APR 2014 but thank you for the info. i just pray that i get picked up. even if the board was months away, im just grateful for this opportunity.

How did your command know? Reason I ask is I've seen more times than not fleet applicants get bad gouge as of late. For example, the fact the Feb rolling boards wouldn't happen (which did) or the fact that no Intel was selected in the February IDC board (Intel folks were selected).

Fleet applicant usually get bad info, I have seen AD sailor they can apply for CEC with a history degree because once you are AD degree doesn't matter (this was a senior officer that told the guy this), age limits didn't apply for AD, that the board select people as they apply (this was for EOD), and on and on......

Hate to say this, but if you hear something in regards to appling for OCS from your command, odds are it is incorrect or a partial truth.

My ESO and TRAINO both showed me the schedule for the boards for 2014 which seemed to updated because where the boards usually said rolling it had specific dates for dead lines and when the board is being held.

Dont get me wrong i totally agree with you. But like i said i seen the schedule and it seemed legit. Both my ESO and TRAINO went to OCS and they know how difficult it can be to get the right info. But either way im just grateful that i am able to apply no matter when the board is.

Those schedules are not set in stone by any means, those dates are just place holders, it is common for those dates to change via email out to NRD's and not have the schedule updated, NRC can also hold the entire board or part of it, for instance for several Pilot/NFO/SWO boards they cancelled the SWO part and only selected Pilots and NFO's, on another one they only picked Pilots and a few SWO's and cancelled the NFO part, the notification only went to the NRD's via email from NRC.

FYI, this is the first FY I have seen the board schedule updated, usually it is put out and they never put out a revision, it is just email changes.

Thank you for the insight. Now knowing how complicated things are i really hope they have the board and get selected. i pray they stick to the updated schedule, but you definitely schooled me on how this process works.

Thanks. It looks like I missed this board by. Few days. At least mine is in and processed ready for the next one. I just hope that there are plenty of summer applicants to get this next board scheduled sooner.
