July 2013 and/or Rolling Board

I talked with Tim Hackett today and naturally they are backlogged from the application deadline being last week. He said if you (me) have not received your confirmation email by the end of the week to get in touch with them. I wanted to get my package in much sooner but due to senior leadership traveling around, it took a while to get my CO's signature! I did speak with Tim on the 19th to ensure he received my package and he verbally confirmed it, so as hard as it is in the Navy to takes someones verbal word, I will have to until they get through my package... which is...not short!

My OR just emailed me to let me know I need to get something done in order to complete my medical. I already went to MEPS and I don't have any conditions that would affect me getting selected but I have to turn in a test that I am guessing my recruiter did not know women have to turn in. Is this going to affect my packet considering the results of this test will take up to two weeks?

As far as I know, no. In my case I haven't even been to MEPS yet, but my packet is up at board. I know there is a conflicting statement in OPNAVIST that says you must be PQ before the Pilot Board. My NORS has told me that I will still know whether or not I get selected. Although it is frustrating to know that a guy with a PQ letter probably has a better shot at getting picked up than I do because the board can see the PQ status.

Be glad you had a MEPS, my OR put in for my date to be May 28 for MEPS. Still not a peep from them.

I go to the doctors tomorrow and even if they take 2 weeks it should hopefully be there before the board but it is cutting it close. I am just going to beg the doctors to put a rush on it lol MEPs said I was good to go so hopefully they won't hold this against me :/

I don't see why they would hold it against you. How long did it take you to get a date approved by your MEPS for your first exam?

2 days after the first time I talked to my OR. They got me in a lot faster than I anticipated. Maybe the Raleigh MEPS here isn't as busy as yours?

It shouldn't affect your board. It just means you aren't medically qualified for a general commission as a officer YET! Your fine though I think if you are selected you get 60 days to take care of it. Riser how have you not been to meps yet? And I thought they didn't know/care about an applicants PQ status.

There could be a whole host of reasons, I honestly don't know why. My OR has said MEPS Sacramento is the worst when it comes to dealing with paperwork. I supplied everything they asked for, which included my PRK paperwork from an operation over 6 months ago, which was the requirement.

I'll give you guys the story so far:

Completing the paperwork for N3M and my OR has taken approximately 6 months, that meant tracking down employers as far as 300 miles away. Additionally my OR at the time said I couldn't compete for the March board due to PRK in November 2012, which I was ok with. LORs and DD 370s took a long time to get in. We were timing this to get MEPS done almost immediately after the 6 month PRK mark, which was May 15.

Gave them all my PRK operation and post op, and filled out the med form. Came back they wanted additional paperwork for something else other than the PRK but I won't disclose exactly what it was for privacy reasons. I went to that other doc and got a letter from him, dropped it off at the ORs office for forwarding to MEPS.

During this time period I had to switch from my OR to a senior enlisted member of the NORS as my OR changed duty station and command. I follow up just about every week to see if a date has been set, and still no word.

I'm honestly not sure what to do at this point. I know that going outside of Chain of Command is a big no no. But it has been over 6 weeks and this is borderline unprofessional IMO. Any input helps, thank you.

This won't affect you getting Pro-Rec, but will affect how long it takes before you receive your final select letter. But the final select letter are sent as early as a week or two after you are pro-rec'd. I have heard people waiting months for their final select letter. So you should be ok!

Also the should not be looking at the medical and clearance side of things, unless you included your N3M letter in your package, non-active duty have a miscellaneous section.

It takes months for a FS letter if your not PQ'd by N3M or don't have your BI opened. My processor made sure both were done before I submitted and said if I am selected I should get a FS soon after cause of my PQ and opened BI.

What is "BI opened"?
