July 2013 and/or Rolling Board

Also, for those unaware, FY14 for the federal gov't actually starts on 1 Oct 2013. The upcoming July boards will begin to fill FY14 slots so that could potentially mean any class date between 1 Oct 2013 and 30 Sept 2014.

If you read the " applying to the March board" thread here you can see selectees were reporting their results the day of. Mr. Spenz is right about the FY14 classes as well.

Except all class dates after June 23, 2013 is FY14.

Mr Spenz, if what you posted is true (and it looks like it is), this doesn't preclude the truth of what I posted. The FY14 does in fact start on 1 Oct 2013. And, since all of the class dates starting from 23 June and on to the end of FY 14 are FY 14, it is also true that any class dates from 1 Oct to the end of FY 14 are in FY14 (by the simple fact that 1 Oct occurs after 23 June).

You could also get a class date sooner than 1 Oct (i.e. 15 Sept.) and it would still be FY 14 since you wouldn't get commissioned until FY 14. I think that's what Spenz was pointing out. Just because you are applying for the 15 July board doesn't necessarily mean your class date will be after 1 Oct.

At first pass this doesn't make sense. If they have convened, then there is no more business for the boards to discuss and they can post the results almost immediately (< 24 hours). Can you quote this/do you have a source for this information?

It is normal for the results to come out one week after the board meets, but the last board was essentially "did they apply", "they did", "then pro Y". What this did was essentially remove any review that was needed and just put names on the paper, note this was for Pilot and NFO.

Seeing as how the anticipation is great for the July board (i.e. march boards have passed, applicants are getting Pro Y'd, sequestration, and so on and so forth) I will proceed to officially say "it's on" everyone.

May the best men/women win...

As to those of us that may not make it, I suppose making lucrative amounts of $$ at Northrop building these things will have to suffice.

You are in fact correct about when FY14 starts, that's why I gave you the agree. Good attention to detail. I think the confusion arises in which board is being used for which fiscal year. The hard truth about that is it can vary. It depends on the applicant's PQ status, completion of packet, whether a class is filled completely or not. I would think that if your PQ'd by MEPS and have your ASTBs in along with your packet, you should expect a date very soon, IMO.

Everything has been a hodgepodge lately. The madness started when N3M announced rolling boards after the last board. IMO it probably shouldn't have been made general knowledge to everyone and should have stuck to the quarterly board deadlines (publicly) to keep the flow right, but I digress. That is well above my pay grade.

True except OCS FY starts on 1 July for some reason. So classes after 1 July will have XX-14 as there class number.

The OCS point of contact let me know they he received my package and had given to th program manager, and that I would see the results within a week of the board. Its more than likely that it will be out sooner, but once again I'm active duty and it may work a little different for others.

This is just a guess but the FY starts Oct. 1 then those going though OCS around July 1 will not complete OCS until Oct. 1. Not exact but 12 weeks = 3months. Add a week to that and one could start OCS on the Jun. 23 and grad. On Oct. 1st, FY 14.

Hey Robert Allen would you mind hooking me up with the OCS POC that you contacted? I'd like to know if they received mine as well, thanks.
