I was told by my OR that as along as I was within body fat standards, then I could get past MEPS. Is that not correct? That being said, I am only 4 pounds over and I will have that off before I go to MEPS anyway.

It is in your best interest to get the weight down. Take it from a guy who has lost a total of 22 lbs to get well within the safe area of the standard.

Perfect, thank you all! I'm feeling very competitive I just have to make sure I don't screw up the body fat portion. If pro-rec'd but fail the MEPS physical for something like body fat % what are the immediate repercussions? Keeping in mind that I won't be going to OCS until after I graduate in May 2014.

My ASTB scores are 65 8/9/8 but I'm hovering around 23% body fat... Shooting for SNA.

You guys are awesome and I really appreciate how helpful this thread is! Good luck to everyone!

Man those are some good stats except the body fat. Your hovering at or over the approved set for males I believe. Better get yourself on some paleo diet routine and some jogging (which you should be doing anyway). Would suck to be held back from leaving for OCS because of % of body fat.

I'm no pro but look into it.

Is it 2.0 for your cumulative that is the minimum or is 2.5?

They are going to do a GPA calc from all your entire college career. I have three different colleges etc that they had to do. I heard you needed at least a 2.5 but closer to a 3.0 to be competitive. Don't worry though my GPA was low however I scored high on the ASTB/flight, 14 LOR's every branch of Mil. and 4 professional, previous college athletic and global professional business leadership etc. GPA is just one part but you better have something to back up that lack luster GPA.

True. I was over the weight for my height but am built with low body fat. I passed the body fat.

I've fixed them, now I fly them!
To distract myself I watch Full Metal Jacket and An Officer and A Gentleman. These movies take my mind completely off OCS and the military in general. If you catch yourself thinking about what may happen or you get anxious just put a Blue ray, DVD, or VHS of these movies, you will instantly feel better!!!!

I have been running distance to distract myself from thinking about the board (helps for about an hour) and to stay in shape. Kill 2 birds with one stone I suppose.

Well, I wish you had killed the particular bird that decided to take a shit on my shoulder today while I was out for a run....

I only had 4........... But, LORs also are somewhat of a waste of time after awhile. Your only going to get LORs from people who like or respect you. No one ever asks an LOR from someone that they know is going to write negative comments about them.

No but having a few key lors from respected individuals who can directly attest to your performance is great...I happened to have a division chief while i was active duty who is now a command master chief at a high profile command who wrote an amazing letter for me...that type of LOR can certainly help quell any doubts about a candidates potential...

I keep seeing people with a ton of LORs and get nervous. I only have four, two of them former military. One is a retired commander of a carrier strike group though which was dope to get. Another from a well known retired JAG officer.
