Thanks a lot man I appreciate it!! I expect to hear good news coming out of this forum SOON. I look forward to meeting some more classmates!!

Thanks for the congrats!! It's really simple to get to having a love for working out and becoming a gym rat. The way I look at things now, is "hmm, would a DI allow my fat self to eat this while at OCS?" (Whether it be a snickers bar (my personal freakin favorite) or some Oreos dunked in skim milk....ahhhh). Then, I just put it back because I know that crap will add the weight on me again. Just keep going after it. Luckily, and some may disagree with me, but I have CrossFit on my side, and its my personal fat loss regimen go-to. Now, with that being said, NOT EVERYBODY does CrossFit and does just fine.

Keep up the great work, and best of luck to everyone tomorrow if you do in fact hear something tomorrow.

Tell me about it! In Vegas so not eating great :( can't wait to get back home and start up Insanity and run again!

With regard to the weight/fitness issue, my father and family friends have told me that there is one thing in the military you can always be in control of and that is your personal fitness. Don't make excuses why you can't ( time restrictions, etc.). There is always time to run a mile or do push-ups and sit-ups.

YES YES AND YES. I can't stand that excuse that someone give me as to why they can't exercise. Get up off your lazy butt and DO something!!

Dude I hate that about vacations. I feel the URGE to have to work out, but damn if relaxing and having a few brews doesn't feel just immaculate. Enjoy it while you can, because your days are coming. It's just a matter of time.

And here is a little word of advice: to the people running in the tough mudders and mud runs, etc, BE CAREFUL. A fellow classmate in my class broke his tibia bone after jumping off a nine foot ledge. Injury can happen at any moments notice. Please stay safe out there folks, and don't do anything too over the top please.

Same! I'm on vacation right now and I had started insanity about a week and a half prior to leaving. I'm definitely looking forward to getting back into it!

They require LORs from all previous employers in the last 3 years. That is why I had so many.

That's odd: my OR didn't tell me that. I submitted 4 LORs, only 1 of which was from an employer from the last three years (and I had more that one employer during that time).

From what I have been told they only really look at your top 3 LOR's, well that's what my Processor told me ( I don't know if that is entirely true though). I only had 1 from a previous employer as well. All of my other LOR's were from 2 O4's, 1 CW2, and an E9. I was raised in a military family so I have known all of them for most of my life which was what my OR told me was more important. They like to see people that can accurately describe your character so I just went with that other than trying to get big Officers or letters from employers that barely knew me. But who really knows exactly what they want.. we can only hope we provided what they wanted to see per that board.

I keep seeing people with a ton of LORs and get nervous. I only have four, two of them former military. One is a retired commander of a carrier strike group though which was dope to get. Another from a well known retired JAG officer.

Don't get nervous. There is no amount that is better than anyone else. I just got aggressive and got as many as I could. The opportunities kept presenting themselves to sit with officers so I kept taking them.

I did have a vice admiral on the hook for a LOR but wouldn't yea know the SEAL slipped away undetected... Ha

I am guessing his high ASTB had more to do with it, I had an applicant who's immediate family included active and retired USN O-6's, O-7's, and O-9's all wrote LOR's and this person is still a civilian, aviation is the only forgiving field.

In the end everyone is right but I can assure you my LORs didn't come from Aunt Sally, Uncle Norm, Private Ryan an my time working at the Dollar Store. I agree that a ton of random LORs from people that hardly know you is a waste. That's why I only submitted the quality ones.

IT'S FRIDAY! We should be getting the call soon!

My understanding, and what I was required to do, was to complete DD Form 370 character reference forms for all employers in the last 3 years at a minimum of 3. If I didn't have 3 employers I was required to get a professional reference from a co worker etc. My LORs were written letters that were signed and on command letterhead when possible, not on DD Form 370's, although I have heard that you are permitted to have an LOR completed on that form if you wish. However I personally wouldn't want my LOR's mixed in with standard employment references...just my two cents :)

LORs make a difference and It helps with the whole package. Take it from someone that got picked up with a 2.8 GPA
