Sorry to hear that man. But the selection rate wasn't as high compared to the past boards.

Pretty sure they were 5/5/5. I know those aren't the greatest but having a 3.5 GPA with two masters and being prior service should have a little more weight.

If I could offer my two cents:

Were I in your position, I'd defiantly retake the ASTB. I was told 6's are where you start getting competitive.

Prior doesn't help with ASTB, neither does GPA, the board has shown over and over they would rather take a low GPA with high ASTB then high GPA and low ASTB.

Prior Service age waivers are about all we get. But the maturity gained from that life experience is supposed to show in that crucial interview. Also, a smidge of 100LL around the collar for that day helps too (for the aviation applicants only)!

Agreed they are investing a lot of time and money in students to become a pilot or NFO.

Well I was told my ASTB was competitive enough if I would have known that apparently it wasn't I would have retaken it. And that is pretty ridiculous if one exam has more weight than a high GPA with two masters and prior service. Lets hope this SWO board actually looks at other credentials.

Maybe competitive enough for the last boards. But no one can predict a board. Good luck with SWO!

At the risk of sounding like a jerk, a prior service should know that you can't rely on the word of anyone else to determine what a good score is. Beef up your LORs, study for the ASTB, and maybe re-write your motivational statement. I'm a prior with a 3.57 BS, and I only scored a 5/6/5. I don't think I excelled in any one area that resulted in my selection - it was probably hitting just high enough in each area that helped. Whole person concept.

You've got half the package wrapped up and looking good. Just improve the other half and I bet next time you get great results.

It is because the ASTB is an apptitude and history has shown that those with lower ASTB tend to have a lower success rate.
