Oh, I don't have that persistence. I end up just waiting for a response for a good while. I am a bit frustrated at waiting, but keeping up with air warriors has kept me much more in the loop. Because of this site, I know that results have come in and that SWOs are just last to hear. If I only depended on my recruiter, I would be blindfolded with crickets sounding off around me with this stuff.

Well my recruiter QUIT the Navy... After working with him for 2 years on this application he quit and didn't warn any of his applicants. He was a great guy and really helpful... I am just frustrated that now I am getting paired with a fresh LT who is in recruiter training and therefore won't be answering his phone until mid-August. This is why I need to hear when NRD Philly results are out!!! Everyone is driving me nuts with their good news. I must know!

I have just learned a lot from this experience. If I ever become a recruiter, I swore to myself that I will do these things:
1) Always call back when I say I am going to call back, even if I don't have the information I said I would call back with. I would just say that news is still on its way.
2) I will always be proactive in calling to get things done and do check up calls on applicants to see where they are.
3) I will call for results as SOON as I receive them! I won't use weekends or vacations as a reason to keep extremely anxious hopefuls out of the loop.
4) I will make the applicants completely aware that it's always okay to call and ask questions.

That's all I have for now, but I feel pretty adamant.

PRO-REC Y Supply June 2013
So that's a pro-rec NOOOOOO for me and NFO...I still have supply so no big deal I'm goin to Newport anyway...but another prior with an age waiver...5 years as Avionics tech in the Navy...and a current Electronic Warfare Technician with Northrop Grumman running radar systems lol...hmmmm...but whatever their reasoning I'm glad the waits over and I'm honestly fine with Supply :) Congrats to the other selects and hopefully I'll see you in Newport!

That's like those lists that prospective parents make for themselves regarding their kids.

1. They will only eat healthy, whole foods!
2. They will go to bed at 8. No exceptions!
3. I'll read them a bed time story every night.

Etc. Etc. I am sure there are some recruiters who start out bright eyed and bushy tailed but the system has a way of grinding down your soul. The Marines have a name for it: The Green Weenie.

You would think, but I am serious. That should be basic courtesy as a recruiter! I would fight for that! I'm not there yet, obviously, but I really do think I would fulfill those. As for those kid expectations...oh no. That stuff gets messy fast.

Wow, reading these posts makes me grateful that I got the recruiter I have. My first recruiter, who happens to be the closest distance to me, never replied after the initial contact. A month later, my current OR called from the district office and asked if I was still interested and took me aboard himself. He has always stayed in contact and has been pretty straight forward with the whole process. When he called me about the results, he said that he just got the email a couple minutes before hand and called right away even though it was after business hours. All in all, he's been great to work with despite never meeting face to face yet.

And as I post this, my recruiter texts me about the board reconvening for more SWO applicants to be picked. I am happier now. Haha. He's a really nice guy, but I think everyone here could understand my crazed state of mind in need of info!

And I hope you get the chance to one day! Perhaps we might even class up together. I can see it now:

"Were you the guy who mentioned The Green Weenie?"

"For all my posts on that forum (48), that's what I am known for?!"

...silence...

"Yup...."

That. Would. Be. Hilarious. Let's just hope these results come out in a flash and that the news is positive! I think my neighbors will have a heart attack if things go right!

The interesting thing is that we have almost the exact same stats. You were a point higher than me on the OAR but I had a slightly higher GPA. Barring you having some damn fine LORs I can't imagine that one of us would be picked up and not the other.
