So that's a pro-rec NOOOOOO for me and NFO...I still have supply so no big deal I'm goin to Newport anyway...but another prior with an age waiver...5 years as Avionics tech in the Navy...and a current Electronic Warfare Technician with Northrop Grumman running radar systems lol...hmmmm...but whatever their reasoning I'm glad the waits over and I'm honestly fine with Supply :) Congrats to the other selects and hopefully I'll see you in Newport!

Take Supply! Sure you'll enjoy that more than SWO considering you put it as your 2nd choice. Hey your still going to OCS so CONGRATS!

Yeah I'm with Spartan on being happy for having a good recruiter. She's prior enlisted (nuke tech on the Nimitz) and is a SWO now. Has her stuff together, usually gets back to me quickly, and if she cant talk on the phone she'll usually text me back. Yesterday when she was giving me results and was messing with me about if I wanted them by text or phone call. I was having a panic attack every time my phone chimed.

Having a good recruiter can make it a completely different experience. My enlisted recruiter is pretty damn awesome. He was the one who took me down to MEPs and on the long way down he and another petty officer got into a completely impromptu screaming match.

Petty Officer K: "What happens if you don't past the piss test?"

Petty Officer S: "The terrorists win!"

POK: "What happens if you fail a vision test?"

POS: "The terrorists win!"

POK: "What happens if you get a girl pregnant?"

POS: "The...well...nobody wins!"

They are a truly awesome bunch.

Ya my recruiter was pretty good as well. But his game is to not make as much initial contact, it shows him the recruit is interested if they make initial contact most of the time. I wont like I was nervous as he was new, but is 2/2 when it comes with aviation recruits.

Thanks spenz! Congrats to you too...supply is a great career option if not as cool as flying in jets lol...I'm completely fine with it...I suppose I'll consider SWO if selected but I think Supply is where I'm goin...I'm fortunate to have the chance to go to Newport and I hope to see you all there!

Thats awesome. I've been at Fort Knox all summer working in the PAO office as a photographer for a summer ROTC training program and I've been around a lot of Army drill sergeants, and they have to be some of the funniest people I've met in a while. Military humor is the best. Drinking with them at the base bar (aptly named "The Landing Zone") has been interesting to say the least. One of the DS's and I got pretty close, and one night we both slapped each other, punched each other in the stomach, and he stabbed me at one point with a knife.

As much as I liked my Army guys though, each time they said "You should fly in the Army, we're better at it!", all I could do is roll my eyes. Naval aviators are the best in the bis. I dont think you could find one of them that could and/or want to land anything on a pitching deck at night.

Wow, reading these posts makes me grateful that I got the recruiter I have. My first recruiter, who happens to be the closest distance to me, never replied after the initial contact. A month later, my current OR called from the district office and asked if I was still interested and took me aboard himself. He has always stayed in contact and has been pretty straight forward with the whole process. When he called me about the results, he said that he just got the email a couple minutes before hand and called right away even though it was after business hours. All in all, he's been great to work with despite never meeting face to face yet.
Yea my OR rocks

And as I post this, my recruiter texts me about the board reconvening for more SWO applicants to be picked. I am happier now. Haha. He's a really nice guy, but I think everyone here could understand my crazed state of mind in need of info!

Yea they already met back up and made final selections. My OR called this morning saying the good news was that they added 100 more spots, bad news it was sitting on a desk waiting to be signed for release.
They had the original picks done and at the last min they chose to add, so some of us might have
Got really lucky. But he says they know who they picked just waiting to release to the results

Stabbed you with a knife?

I mean, this is the hierarchy of slap stick:

Slap to the face: Funny

Punch in the stomach: More funny.

Anything coming in contact with the groin: Hilarious

Getting stabbed with a knife: Priceless.....wait, no....about $3632 in hospital bills.

Does anyone else have a recruiter who never ever calls them?

My experience has been, as well as told to me, if you want something in the military (and other places) you have to go get it yourself. Recruiters are notoriously bad for keeping their recruits up-to-date. I cant blame them though. They have a lot of recruits to with whom to work.

Haha he was quite the character. Heading to work as a shooter in Afghanistan for a security contractor very soon. And I suppose "stab" isnt the right word. He drew it and poked me rather hard and drew some blood. The next day when I told him he says "I told you that you should have never bought me tequila shots".

GAH!!! Let's just get to releasing those results already!! I don't want to have a face full of wrinkles, no hair, and a heart attack by the time they come out! The heart attack may make me inelligable, and I still haven't gone through MEPS. Lol

Ha! Yeah, that's why I stay away from the fire water. Sounds like a good time though.

Just a question for all you people who are simply more knowledgeable on NFO to NA transition in the future. My eyesight is not the greatest, but the navy says that one's eyesight cannot deteriorate past 20 / 400 which my eyesight is not that bad. My question becomes, can an NFO transition to NA if the minimum eyesight is met, or does it have to be near perfect period to begin flying?
