To the guys who were in Fraternities...did it matter much that you were in one or was it actually looked down upon? SynixMan, which fraternity were you in?
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.!! I don't think it mattered as much, not for me anyway. I hold no leadership roles, yet, so I'm just a member but volunteer when my bruhs call on me to do so; therefore, I never mentioned it on my application.
The only stats outside of the military that probably made an impression on my selection in April (Supply & SWO) was my 3yr leadership position in a volunteer org. That's the thing, just being a member might not impress the board. You have to show can and have stepped up and took charge of a program/series of events, lead someone or manage something in order for your involvement to have a significant impression on the board, IMO.

Granted it was 10 years ago, but I was in a fraternity...

Why have so many people referred to their GLOs in the past tense? There are no Alumni chapters available or something? It was always pressed upon me that I was joining a brotherhood, a life long commitment to work collectively for the betterment your community and its people, and so forth. Or maybe NPHC greek fraternities and sororities are different.
But, I digress...
WoW... good to see there are a lot of selects in May! April was a punch to the gut for a lot of applicants. Don't know why, but those selection rates were atrociously low!! But I'm glad to see the flood gates have opened up... I'm guessing aviation is probably at about a 50% or 60% selection rate this month (just based on the amount of pro rec announcements... no insider info).
