Motorcycle - To Sell Or Not To Sell: I Need Some Advice

Attention riders, I need your advice once again.

The time has come, I have been pro-rec'd SNA, NFO, SWO and and awaiting final select. I want to get rid of my CBR, but lately I have been really thinking about trading in for a cruiser (as I hear the collective moans and groans from the rocket community). So does anyone have suggestions? I don't want a Hardley. My constraints: Under $7k (because I think I can get about 7500 for my bike and I'd like to keep from reaching into my pocket on this deal), and decent power is a must.

Any help?

Howabout a standard?

Bonneville Black's can be had for about $6500 or so new.

The T100 and Bonneville Standard are about $7900 and $7200 respectively. They have some upgrades, but they are all cosmetic.

They also have the Speemaster and Bonneville America, which are the "dedicated cruiser" types. Around $8-8500 or so.

Then there is the Thruxton, but Hozer has that, he can chime in.

Thanks MB - because I'm lazy...are these Triumphs? Oh, and according to FlytPay I may be the next owner of the legendary Puma. :D

Yes, they are Triumphs.

I've had mine since 04, and besides 2 minor warranty things, (mirror and tachometer) it has been just basic maintenance for 30,000 miles. 45-50 mpg with me on it. Runs better on 89 than super.

Sold the Thruxton's and got a Tiger...all Triumph of course.

Plus I'll give the Germans the finger as I drive by their squadron. They are a bit biased towards the GS1200. No clue why.

I really like the Triumphs you posted MB, I'll ride to some spots tomorrow and see what I can work out. I'm going to have to get caught up on all the cruiser culture. My dad has a fat boy and I can't stand his Harley friends.

Whoa, time out...why do you want to get rid of your CBR if you are just going to get another bike?

If you were going to get rid of your bike and not get another I can understand, but c'mon!!! Don't fall into the trap! Keep your CBR. If you get hit on a bike, it doesn't really matter what kind of bike you are riding.

I'm done with college and out of the mountains, which equals no more twisties except at a track, and I won't have time or money in flight school to do that. Rockets are pointless on long straight roads. I ride sportbikes the way they are meant to be ridden, and I can't stand riding my CBR for long distanceson long, flat, boring roads. Cruiser would be a different story, a bit more practical.

Since you'll be going to NASP just get a PWC instead. Much safer and you'll get chicks boobies squished on your back while you're giving rides. giggle giggle.

You still get a kick out of giving your "older" cousins extended hugs don't you.:D

Yeah, that makes sense. My back and arms get soar during long rides so I know what you mean. A cruiser would be much more comfortable.

That's not to say I won't miss the CBR...just for now, if I'm going to keep a bike, a cruiser's the way to go. Now if I can only find one for the right price.

going to the dark-side:confused:... Just bought the liter last week for school commuting:D and some other stuff;) sorry just had to show off. But I personally like the triumph speed triple, great bike and a good price but not exactly a cruiser. Good luck with the new bike.

Sweet ride. I'll get back into the track riding when I have some disposeable income, after I buy a PUMA and pay off the Manatee II, I suppose. :D
