OCS 08APR2024 SNA/SNFO BOARD

Tyr

Has anyone seen my wingman?
Im curious if anyone knows this. Would obtaining a PPL allow for another submission to the board without retaking the test? My recruiter says he thinks so but i may need to do that. Would give me 2 more submissions if this one fails.
Unsure. Though I would recommend you find another way. From my understanding, if you have your PPL you’ll skip initial flight training, or at least have the option to. I’ve heard that some candidates who have their PPL, but are not as experienced, struggle if they skip initial flight training. But I could be misunderstanding it, see what your recruiter says / see if there was anyone else in a similar spot

Do you get an email after you package is officially submitted? I finished everything last week and my recruiter says there isn't anything I can do at the moment but have not heard anything since.
I fixed my last thing on the ASPR not last Friday, but the one before. (The processor kicked it back) And yesterday I got an email from the processor saying he submitted it to the NRC board clerk.

From my understanding you could reapply with the same scores. I think obtaining a PPL is great but don't know how much that is taken into consideration vs gpa/astb scores. If things don't work out this round for whatever reason I would try to retake the test depending on your scores.

Depends on your recruiter I think. I know they get very busy around this time trying to meet all the deadlines. Just try to find a way to ask respectfully if you are concerned about it

If that's the case, that's news to me bc I've been in Pcola since November and no one has said anything about that. Probably just gouge, since the Navy wants you to learn to fly their way

You're probably talking about the program that lets people skip primary if they choose to go helos. I know at least one or two people who are thinking about doing that

That is a good point. This was mainly words from my Air Force bros, which is largely different

You in the Airforce?
No, I was in ROTC for a large part of college. That unfortunately didn’t work out after commission numbers took a drastic hit from covid. I’m still close to a lot of them who are in the pilot pipeline. I wish to join them one day

Random question - do you get interviewed for your clearance prior to OCS? I submitted SF86 in October and haven’t heard anything
I'm practically in the same boat, submitted it in November and still haven't heard anything. Do you know if we ever hear that we've been officially cleared? Or do you just assume so if you keep progressing through the pipeline.

I would say reach out to your recruiter. Mine said we get interviewed during OCS

I'm not a recruiter so take this with a grain of salt, but I don't think that would require a retest if you are happy with your current scores. Although, I must say it seems that the board doesn't really care about any flight hours when considering your application unlike the Airforce. But then again it certainly doesn't hurt to put that you've got a PPL on your paperwork.

Interesting, my recruiter said my package was submitted last week and that not hearing anything would imply good news. But you got a direct email from someone (not in your recruiting office?) saying your package was submitted? Or are you talking about the designated processor in the recruiting office that does the final gpa/degree audit 'things'.

Got it from a civilian saying he submitted it to the board clerk. Maybe this is a unique thing to this area ?
