YES, still waiting and my patience is really starting to wear thin! Don't know of anyone else active on this thread who has yet to hear. I've tried the email route with no success, so maybe my OR is out of the office? Going to give the NOSC station a call tomorrow. Starting to think the long delay might be a bad sign though...

Man, thats rough...

Stay positive, I just started bugging my OR and eventually he returned my phone call. Id probably still be waiting otherwise.

An itch that never itches never gets scratched

Thanks, will do! I'm sure the top priority for ORs is assembling packages for upcoming boards, so I can't really be too upset. When it was crunch time for me in July before the deadline on this board, he was really on the ball with everything.

Priority should/is supposed be to get those who are Pro Y their FS letters, NRC puts a 30 day limit, but they will do extensions for good reasons.

A 30-day limit starting when, from the date the results are certified by the board? Or when they are distributed by NRC? Since AD applicants got their results on 8/30, if it's the former we are already at least 10 days in.

I was told directly by a recruiter that serving in the Peace Corps was an automatic dq, and personally had to go through the ringer when getting my secret clearance because of my foreign wife. I'm not saying I know with certainty that he wouldn't get one and am not claiming to be an authority on clearances, but the investment they'd have to make verifying his connections in Africa could put him out of the running. For his sake, I hope that's not the case.

I already have Security clearance. Our President have connection (family ties) in Kenya and Indonesia. Still has Top security clearance and is the Commander in Chief

I don't think think he is saying that it can't be done but it is just is one strike against you. The president is an exception to a lot of the rules and totally unrelated. Most folks in his shoes would have trouble getting a clearance outside of his seat. Given that he is a single position, there is no issue properly vetting him.

I would say since no one knows for sure we could just stop throwing around hypotheticals and possibilities. If someone can find some print or proof then post it up. Too much bad gouge floating around.

30 days from when the senior board member signs the sheet, if the NRD doesn't notify people for 2 weeks then that person only has 2 weeks left, however, NRC will give on the time with good reason and communication.

Fair enough - good luck to you, I hope it all works out.

Just a matter of detail, but I think its interesting....

The President actually doesn't go through the clearance process. He is elected by the country, and is thus vetted by the election. As soon as he is elected he automatically gains his super TS clearance, but there is no SSBI or poly.

So to say "well he got a clearance, so can I....." Isn't really realistic, unless you plan on being elected to office.

I'm on the fence about reapplying when I'm eligible in 6 months. There isn't much I can meaningfully improve about my package in that time frame - can't see myself scoring significantly better than 65 on the OAR, I already have calc and physics courses, and I'm not enrolled in any classes to boost my GPA. My best chance is that the rest of the field gets weaker, or the quotas go up. Neither case seems very likely in this economy.

Looking at the bigger picture, I realize some of the successful applicants hold advanced or technical degrees. It would take me at least two years to complete a master's, not including taking the GRE and all that; by then I'll be 32 and saddled with a new load of debt, just to potentially raise my chances? As much as I did and still do want to serve, not sure that makes sense for me.

Anyways, just thinking out loud and putting my cards on the table. It's been fun getting to know some of you on these forums, and maybe I'll see you on another thread the next time around. Good luck at OCS for all the selects.

Non-select for Intel. I think I will re-apply for the December board.

My OR said that selects for Intel were in the single digits out of over 500 kits.

Congratulations to everyone that made it!

I feel you man, I really want to serve, and have been looking at the other branches since I got my Non-select. Although, I'm still not sure what to improve on other than going and getting my masters. I've tried asking my OR if there was anything to improve on and she just says "I don't see why you weren't selected. You have a technical degree, and a great application." The thought of enlisting and then commissioning has been bouncing around in my head, since it seems most of the people picked up were either enlisted or prior service. Any thoughts from from those already in?

I have seen many that have enlisted in hopes of getting commissioned, in general that doesn't work out well, you would be better off applying for SWO if you really want to serve.

She must be new, anyone that has been around officer recruiting for awhile knows that many great applicants never get picked up for IDC fields just because of the numbers that apply.
