Oct 2013 IDC/SWO-IDC Options Board

Just heard from Millington, and I'm heading to OCS on Nov. 17! Originally he wanted me to go up on Oct. 4.... things are moving quickly!

I too was supposed to be in that October class. I had to push to Feb 2nd. I'm stationed in Hawaii and have to many people visiting to just up and leave.

Did you rcv orders, or a Final select letter at first? When did you rcv it? Just trying to anticipate my orders or letter. Anticipation.......

I recieved my final select Friday, Sept 20. That was after I had to send in extra medical forms twice. I'm so glad that stress/anticipation is over. Now it's time to get in the best shape of my life! I hear Rhode Island is delightful in February...

Wow that's crazy, there are still plenty of people from the the July board, including myself, still waiting for our Final Select letter.

I know right! I was expecting to wait a couple of months, not three weeks. I already have my SCI, not sure if that sped things up or not.

You're aviation, they're IDC. Different communities put people in according to when their appropriate follow-on school has room/billets are available.

I hear Rhode Island is delightful in February...

I got to Newport last February. The base had just been hit by a blizzard, I probably slid around more corners with a car full of candidates than I actually turned around. It was cold, dark, and just didn't feel quite like I had thought. I was expecting "My name is Gunnery Sergeant Marko Ramius, and I will be your class drill instructor..." come Wednesday.

I had my clearance already too... I'm assuming that pushed up our timelines..

That's a good point, didn't put that into consideration.

It isn't so much as having the clearance as having the process started, once a person has the status of "investigation open" for clearance that check in the box is complete, sometimes it is just a matter of who's file a PM opens up first can determine an OCS date.

I'm relatively new to the site, but I have to say that these threads have helped me out a lot during my application process.

I just found out today that I'm a Final Select for Intel, so I thought I would share my background here in case it's helpful to those applying in the future.

Has anyone heard anything since the good ole government shutdown?? Last thing i heard was last Thursday, that my package was in the final stage; on the desk of the OCS director awaiting signature. Then the government shutdown Tuesday. Not sure exactly if this will effect everyone waiting.

I'm sure it will affect everyone, waiting for anything at this point, but no one can say yet how much, or who will be most affected. Should be more info available early in the coming week. I think it's reasonable to assume that the longer the impasse drags on... the more everyone will be adversely affected. There will be zero "winners" in this political Kabuki.

My orders were released on Wednesday, probably stuck in the process somewhere. I just have to keep checking message traffic with BOL down.

I got mine on Nsips, Ill see you on Feb 2nd .

I checked NSIPS before I left Friday. So hopefully I see them Monday morning.
