All kidding aside, you could easily run up a $100,000 tab just to get to your first flight.
Our unit offers pilot rated 0-4/O-5 the opportunity to drill for points only, get a good year towards a mil reserve retirement, advance if willing, and not maintain a separate aircraft qual which for airline guys is huge. All in a fairly low stress environment. We are an Active Duty unit with about 150 reservists and IMAs.I don’t know that they’ve “seen the light,” just that the Air Guard offers more part-time flying opportunities than the naval reserve. If USNR air was the same as it was in the Cold War era all of these guys would be flying with them.
I've seen images of British jets in similar state. It appears that the finish/paint and being at sea is challenging...Is this a one off or are they really handling the sea that badly?
