No no, I meant the opposite. Someone who changes their opinions when presented with new information is being intellectually consistent. I think more people should reevaluate their previously held beliefs when presented with new information.

Gotcha. We agree. Thanks for being patient with my pedantic intellect complete misreading of your post. My bad. :)

Point of order... aren't shave chits a medical matter, vice one of grooming standards?
Yes, but perhaps the issue is that we are playing too fast and loose with them?

I'll admit, before this thread, I never really bothered to look into the no-shave chit policy. Always gave everyone the benefit of the doubt that if they had a beard, they had a no shave chit. Because I like to treat people like adults, and medical problems are between them and their doctor.

But apparently permanent no-shave chits aren't authorized and if there's no visible indication of rash / irritation (or the person has clearly shaped their beard via shaving to look stylish) then that no-shave chit either expired or shouldn't have been issued.

To be fair, I didn't know people were ever selected for promotion once in the IRR?
I'm not going to pretend to know anything about the IRR, but I have a friend who failed Nuke school despite not wanting to go in the first place, couldn't get re-designated, was re-assigned to the IRR, but somehow he's made O-4 and I see him occasionally on LinkedIn playing Navy. Maybe he entered the SELRES, but I am confident he was initially sent to the IRR.
