What would be even more impressive would be if you had a NEW-IN-BOX A-6.....then we might have a deal ;)
They'd just cannabilize it and turn it into a Prowler. And then 3G limit it for FLE anyway. :D

The latest Tailhook newsletter has them for sale as well.

"Leroy" is selling them. He was a Blue angel when the team went from A-4s to F/A-18s in the mid 80s.

I flew with him in VF-114, he was real smooth on form, real rough on rendezvous (REAL rough...but very effective and fast...:D)...a la The Blues.

Skyhawks still looking for a home

The sad saga of the New Zealand Skyhawks that were retired prematurely continues as they are now being pulled out of their hangar storage after six years while awaiting US permission to be sold to Arizona-based ATSI (that already obtained former Israeli Skyhawks). The New Zealand Skyhawks were updated with APG-66 radars and HUDs and are considered to be the more advanced variants of the line (along with those upgraded for Singapore).

Money or politics???

Why were they retired prematurely? $$$$?

You could always say money is a factor, but the New Zealand government conducted their 1997 Defence Review and decided to transition the Skyhawk force to the F-16A beginning in 2004, with the last aircraft being retired in 2010. Although a lease for the F-16 replacements was signed in 1999 and personnel sent to the US to acquire the aircraft. a change in the political leadership resulted in a review of the composition of the air force and in 2001, the government decided to disband its air combat force and put those aircraft up for sale. Maritime Surveillance and transport aircraft were retained, but the Skyhawks were shut down and a disbandment parade was held at Ohakea in 2001 for the three Skyhawk squadrons.
