So they wear the white, button-down shirt, the tie, and the leather jacket over that? I've never seen it, but I'm sticking in my back pocket for potential future use...

Yes, it is not authorized though often ignored.

this guy got his security clearance pulled for taking bribes (they call it inappropriate gifts)..I think he is going to be replaced soon ..if not already, as they would not reinstate his clearance........
His clearance was pulled because he is under investigation.

this cyberwarfare stuff must be hot shit, as its only been around a few years....and they already got a badge....
I believe all URL communities have warfare pins now. It started with the SWOs wanting something shiny like we have.

my guess: .the insignia is on top because that is is current assignment....I think!!....,
Yes, that's right.

Also, this.

All URL's have long had their own pins, since 1975 when the SWO's finally got their own. Some non-URL's like Intel got envious and now all my friends have pins, qualification pins for them.

That's been true for a long time. URL = SWO, Sub, Pilot, NFO, SpecWar, and EOD. IDC is Restricted Line.

Because I could never imagine Jim Stockdale or Bull Halsey ever doing that - yes a modern female officer who is a stickler for rules - sure. Tradition my friend :)

Put it this way - even if it meant deviating from the uniform rules, wouldn't we all always wear our wings above any other warfare designator ? (potential exception being the Budweiser).

It's why we wear brown shoes, it's why we stick it to black shoes at every opportunity - reminding them that indeed we are special :)

Seriously, what the fuck does being a man or woman have to do with anything in this regard? Or are you just throwing that out to feel better about yourself?

Maybe he thinks the flight physical tests for cooties or something . . .

Button-down shirt?!? I must have missed an issue of Navy Times…

You'll see "flight jacket in lieu of blouse" in shore-based staff "working spaces" a lot in the winter season if SDBs is the UOD…like it used to be in the Pentagon. Or used to, anyway…can't speak for today's "Action Navy". Probably personality-dependent on the senior leadership. I'm betting the Supe doesn't sit in his office wearing his SDB blouse on the banks of the Severn...

I would not have guessed that the Navy would be the service expressing concerns over litigation. Did a particular senior service leader get a chance to squash the memo, or did it sneak past him....?

This "fix" goes after a symptom and not the problem; why do so few minority officers seek the jobs in question? Much like STEM (and other diversity) initiatives, the best approach (as is usually the case) is not quick or simple; it would require concerted efforts focused on communities and outreach to historically underrepresented groups while they are in middle and high school.

I can't imagine a lawsuit being a real problem. The military does things and has policies that would never survive judicial review in the civ world. The courts generally take a hands off approach to the military. Where were the law suits over restricting women from combat, or subs? Where are the law suits claiming disparate results in SEAL training?

RLSO is right, of course. Fixing the problem in question requires years and marketing and outreach to educate and change perceptions.

False sir,

Navy Reserve Merchant Marine Warfare Badge was first authorized in 1915...granted they took it away from us a few years ago and replaced it with something lame..

No way! Now that is a bit of history that has been long forgotten. And the current one is a bit busy I think.
