Aside from public-facing designators such as PAO, I'd be curious to hear what the reasoning is behind requiring people to provide photographs.

I am pretty sure that guy was pulling your chain, the only program where a picture has been required for the last nearly 20 years is PAO (might be longer but the data I had went back close to 20 years)

He could have said PAO and I just computed it as pilot.

Keep in mind that a picture is required to be on file once you are commissioned.(full length in khakis) The photo gets put up on the screen during promotion selection boards while your record is being recited to the board members. Perhaps it was a promotion board and not an OCS board on which your friend sat?

OCS Help Desk policy for when you don't know the answer to a results date-related question is to always reply with "next week." ;-)
In all seriousness though, next week would make sense.

Its not required for SNA or SNFO applications, at least not for prior service. I did see it was required for NUKE, however.

When having your picture taken for commissioning programs, think Magnum.

It looks like the 6 Oct SWO board results are out already. I guess the surface boys had somewhere to be. Will the IDC folks comb through the possible selects since SWO was posted first? Also, a 98% acceptance? What?
