Your OAR is pretty good, but your GPA is on the lower end of the accepted limit. Your degree could help that. Did you have to write any statements or anything for your package?
Yes, I did. My recruiter and I approached this wisely by stating the causes of a lower GPA and the academic hardships I had to overcome because of it. I even talked about the various other relevant clubs/leadership experiences/jobs I've held in the past years that make up for a poor academic performance. By doing so, I'm implying to the board that GPA alone should not be the "end all, be all" factor for selection.

In addition, I have four letters of recommendation/endorsements from the following:
- AFROTC Commander, Colonel (O-6)
- Dean of Engineering
- Department Chair of Aerospace Engineering
- Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering

I think you will be fine. It is SWO and your GPA for that major isn't atrocious. People with similar GPAs lower OARs and easier majors have gotten selected.

Yea, you should be good.

When is the best time of year to go to OCS? When I apply how far out can I delay getting shipped for ocs? I’m trying to figure out when I will be leaving my job so my boss can find another pilot.

Best time of year is probably spring/early summer. It’s rainy but not snowy and just starting to warm up so you don’t go through the sand pits in 80° heat. Sometimes you get some wiggle room of a few months, others you’re just told when you’re going and have to try to push it back.

There is a spot you fill out where you put your earliest availability date, just make sure you fill that out correctly.

The sunrise/sunset in the summer is also really nice, not that most people will notice that since they're either face down in the sand or staring straight ahead lol

The person most equipped to answer questions about your eligibility is a recruiter.

It seems to me that taking some time to prove the longevity of your recovery from your recent health challenges could be positive. "This person was very recently very sick" might look different from "This person had some weird health stuff a few years ago but generally seems durably healthy at this point". You won't age out for a bit, so why not take some time to get extra super healthy and fit before revisiting this idea later on?

Did anyone who graduated recently bring boots to OCS? And if yes did you have to bring them in their original box?
Are you speaking from an AD point of view? You can bring any Navy authorized uniform items, especially priors who already have them. It is encouraged to save money while at OCS.

I feel like I'll probably get this answer when I get my orders, but do AD enlisted applicants report to OCS in the seasonal dress uniform?

Go check the Navy OCS FAQs on the mynavyhr commissioning programs page. It’ll tell you everything you need to know about getting to OCS. Pretty sure we all show up in civies.

I thought I remembered reading that, but I wasn't sure from where. Thanks!
