"I don't believe the majority of Muslims who say they don't support Osama and other extremist/terrorists, because if they didn't, they wouldn't be Muslim according to my understanding of the Koran."
I highly recommend reading the Qur'an in Arabic, or at least a good translation before you start discussing the intent and interpretation of the Qur'an. Reading a passage in English class about infidels probably has mislead you about the message of the Koran. It is like reading chapter 15 of Leviticus and thinking the bible was a manual for cleanliness. I personally have never read the Qur'an in Arabic, but I've heard it is very poetic.
"What he meant was, those that hate us, already hate us. It's like those jackoffs who oppose killing the bad guys... because it will only make them hate us more. Wtf kind of logic is that?"
It isn't about current terrorists. There aren't that many current terrorists. There are no reliable statistics, but they are few and far between. The concern is potential terrorists. We don't want to give ideological ammunition to the opposition which they can use to recruit middle class British citizens.
We already racial profile, just unofficially. If you were searching bags in a NYC subway, whose bag do you search the most thoroughly? Making it official would save money, but also violate our constitution. Lets just keep doing it unofficially.
