They must be young guys:), my knees and ankles would be crying.

I would have asked you to do a bump drop on that LZ.

The only reason to fastrope into that zone would be for speed. It was tricky to land in there with the signs, etc, but would have been easy to one wheel to the center of the roundabout. For most of the guys on the rope, today was their first time in a helo.

I have faith in you. ;) Slam it down. Those of us who dont fall out will jump out. Much faster than roping.

And the guys in back aren't keen on get jostled around, if not disoriented, during type procedure used to stop helo forward motion. While we were watching this evolution, the SEAL next to me turned to NSAWC instructor and said most heatedly, "You EVER try that with me in back, I'll be climbing into the cockpit with you, and you'll never try that again...."

Must be brutal to have that view at work all day eh?

Like most days in Navy (especially at sea), most of the time is characterized by long periods of boredom or toiling on an irksome or demanding task punctuated with moments of pleasure. All in all, it doesn't suck.

Here's Friday's winging at NAS CC. Congrats to 08-32. That's me on front row, left side (right side of pic) and Pickle next to me. Some P-3 pr0n as an added bonus.

Wow, where did you find that one? A Marine RF-4 on Midway.....
I think the USMC/NAV started doing that in the middle 70's w Photo 3 ... i.e.:

Marine RF-4B's + Iwakuni + MIDWAY + Japan = USMC RF-4B's on the MIDWAY for several years ... or something like that. :)

I really enjoyed reading the comments about that picture... definately interesting getting to hear the rest of the story! I came across them on another aviation forum actually.
