The Great Flight Jacket Thread (wearing/buying Leather, NOMEX, WEP jackets/patches)

I took my jacket to Sew-n-So on Blackstone in Fresno (about 4 years ago now…) and they did an awesome job. Worked with me to get the exact placement, opened the liner, and the sewing was excellent.

I haven't been there in awhile but it might be worth calling Wings and Things to see if they'll do pockets. So far as I'm aware they only did cuff repair / patch sewing but given their demographic it might be worth a shot for a local shop.
For mailing, I would reach out to Stonehedge Leather in San Diego (https://stonehedgeleather.com/). I went to them (Puppy is the guy) in person but they may offer services over mail as well. He can do basically anything you want with your jacket - pockets, custom engraving on the placket, pen pocket on the placket, gun pocket, etc. I got my pockets without the "bunny job" (just plain leather, no fur inserts) and the pen pocket and it was done perfectly. Turnaround will probably be a couple months.
If they can't do it over mail I'm sure someone else will speak up with other options.
If you make it down to Pt Mugu, Ventura Leathers a good place. He did mine and even pulled the liner. He said he can do the side pockets too. This guy builds leather jackets from scratch, so I'm assuming he can probably do any mod you request.

You mean wear the G1 jacket over the SDB double breasted blouse? I'm sorry that just looks ridiculous, and uncomfortable. On the other hand, wearing the G1 in place of the SDB blouse over the white shirt tie and soft epaulettes is a combo we often wore on recruiting duty far from the flagpole.
I think this is what Waveoff meant in his post.
I saw an aviator CAPT wear exactly that combo to a public industry event a few weeks ago.
