has there ever been a USS Douglas MacArthur? that'd be a pretty sick ship name eventho he kinda left on bad terms lol :icon_tong

I don't think Douglas MacArthur got along "very well" with the Navy higher-ups at the time and I doubt they would name a ship after an Army General. The only ships I can think of that were named after Army fellas, where fellas that eventually became President. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but there aren't any ships that come to mind.

The navy has several ships named after heroic soldiers and Marines:

USNS Shughart
The U.S. Navy officially named a roll-on/roll-off ship USNS Shughart in a ceremony at the National Steel and Shipbuilding Company, San Diego, California.

Several boats have been named after real heroes. A much better way to go. Check out the MSC prepo ships:

ok fine how about the USS Jesse Jackson....i mean uhhh USS Adultery....wait errrr ah... sh!t screw it i dont care, Gerald Ford is fine

I looked it up, there was a USS Thomas Jefferson, an ETHAN ALLEN class SSN.
