What NRC considers competitive

Your recruiter should have let you know that you are not qualified for SNA your PFAR score is below the minimum of 6 that is now required per the PA that RUFIO recently posted.

Thanks for the reply!

My recruiter did tell me that it doesn't qualify, but I wasn't sure if it would be worth it to still submit with everything else taken into account.

Applying for NFO at 26 years old, turning 27 in September. 57/7/7/7; B.A. in Rhetoric, 3.4 GPA. I'm wondering if I should retake the ASTB for higher scores since I'll have a legal waiver and read slots are narrowing. RO with 4 years experience was excited about results, but word on the street is his excitement is less valuable than Rufio's scrutiny. I did go to a top law school (after the legal incident (DUI) in 2013 while in undergrad), but left in 2016. Several writing/speaking awards and leadership experiences that will hopefully provide a denser counterweight to the waiver. Nervous about my chances, though, considering this will be my one and only shot due to age. Looking for collective wisdom. As an aside, thanks to the many regular contributors for your helpful remarks, Gouge, and other provided resources--they've truly been a help.

a person either meets the minimum requirements to be considered or doesn't, if you don't then you won't be considered for that designator

Hopefully you are on this May board. In the event you’re selected you have to ship to OCS soon in order to commission before 27. If not you’re SOL.

I'm a second year in college, so I'm just testing the waters:

20 Years Old (will be 22 when I apply)
University of California, Santa Cruz
3.33 GPA
Molecular Cell & Developmental Biology B.S.
54 OAR
6/7/7 ASTB

I'm trying to apply for a pilot position. Can anyone give me some feedback?

I've been in the Navy for 9.5 years as an AWS (Naval Aircrewman). Qualified Crewchief and Rescue Swimmer with just over 1550 hours special crew time in the MH-60S. I have the highest possible tactical qualifications in my platform as well. I've done 5 carrier deployments. 2 to 5th fleet and 3 while forward deployed to Japan to 7th fleet. Good evals, EP Map to E-6 transfer eval, P, and then #16 of 116 EP. No NJPs.

29 (Have an age waiver for NFO 1 FEB 2020)
Liberty University
3.95 gpa
B.S Criminal Justice
54 OAR
6,6,7

Applying for NFO this July package deadline, August board, will be my first time applying. Just graduated college May 19th. Always open to feedback to better my chances.

You know the boards only really care about your ASTB scores, right?

Yeah but at least we all know he won't fail the swimming in API.
Ya, I understand that OAR and GPA is by far the biggest part. But, I included that stuff because I've kept NATOPS quals, flight physicals, currencies, did water survival at NACCS, already have done SERE, etc... figured that stuff might help

Not sure how much, if any, it will actually help. That is why I'm here though. Looking for feedback on how I stack up and what I can do to help get selected.

Maybe for API/flight school/fleet but not so much for selection boards. If the boards had to choose between an AWS1 (for example) with minimum ASTB scores or a 22 year old kid with very high ASTB scores, more than likely they’ll choose the latter.

By the way your ASTB test scores are fine.

Would you recommend I retake the ASTB for better scores to be competitive?

I am new to this forum. Looking at applying for the NFO designation. I am 27 with prior service, and undergrad degree. Just starting to collect information, and where to go from here. I have reached out to an OR, and he recommended I review this forum for more information. I know I will have to take the OAR and ASTB, and from reviewing this forum. It looks like a competitive score for NFO is over 50 6/6/6. Is this accurate? Just looking for feedback, and how to properly study and prepare for the OAR and ASTB. Thanks!
