Good afternoon,

On my first attempt, I scored a 48 4-4-4, and on my second attempt a 40 4-5-4. I was confident that I studied sufficiently for my second attempt and would receive a greater score but was surprised my OAR score lowered and I did not increase my other three scores. UAV portion second attempt 17/20 with an average four-second response time using compass trick. I went ahead and bought the same x52 to use with a Windows-based simulation. All my studying has been using Barrons and Trivium textbooks and not online resources. Does the ASTB prep app have a stick and throttle portion that I can use for the x52? The recruiter told me to ditch the textbooks and use Air Warriors for more up-to-date info. I have a lot of reading to do on this forum. Studying for my third attempt for the ASTB and AFOQT.

Hi guys, I just took the astb and was wondering about some clarification on what my scores could mean for me.

OAR: 57
All 7's for the PBM
58 on LPSS.

Anything would be appreciated. Thanks.

Great scores, your scores qualify for immediate selection for a pilot slot. As long as your GPA is above a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and you do not have any significant medical conditions that need a waiver, you should be all good to start the application process.

Hello guys,

So I have a question for those who got decent scores on the ASTB for SNA.

I was wondering how did you feel preparation wise when your test day was approaching? I have been studying for about a month and I feel the topics I am weakest on are MCT and ANIT. For MST my weak point is that I never took a statistics course. But I feel comfortable with some percentage and average problems. I also do well on the math practice tests.

For the MCT I believe that I am decently prepared for easy and medium difficulty questions. I can answer some hard questions depending on the topic. Preparing for the ANIT has been the most difficult since there is so much material to cover on this topic. I am learning things for the ANIT but it does not feel enough.

Not sure if I am being a perfectionist which is making me feel underprepared. But my test day is coming up and I am going to dedicate my full effort to studying and hope the scores are good enough for a SNA application package.

Seriously go through all the practice stuff on the drives here. Anything you aren’t familiar with look up, and the ASTB app if you’re getting almost everything right with all very hard mostly you should be ok. I felt pretty shaky on MCT but definitely be comfortable with conceptual stuff, and the bullet question I got twice. take the advice of everyone on this thread, it is invaluable, I owe it to everyone sharing their experiences and advice here. Cram cards for ANIT everyone says is sufficient, i took every question from this, the app, and the practice tests that I didn’t know and put them all in a Quizlet to study. I felt like I was under prepared but ended up scoring 60 8/9/8. Invest the $100 or so for the X52 I found one on marketplace, it is a life changing test so I think it’s well worth the investment, I used it with ASTB app everyday for a few weeks until it felt decently easy.

Ok cool. I had a 3.4 GPA in University do you know what my odds at getting selected might be? If not no worries.

Unless anything has changed since yesterday morning, you should qualify for immediate selection meaning the board should pick you up unless there are any unexpected issues. Did you not talk to your recruiter after the test yesterday?

I would highly recommend you at least try and learn it without using the compass method. I didn't use it and was scoring 0.80 sec 19/20 or better in practice each time. The test I believe I was able to go even faster because of the mouse setup, it was instant and no misses. Even if you don't get it all the way down, practicing without the compass method will surely help you be faster if you do use the compass method! Best of luck to you!
in the exam, is the direction put on the screen or i have to listen out for it?

No not really he had to kind of leave in a hurry. I’m supposed to go back early next week to sign some papers and stuff

As mentioned by @watercup it will be displayed on the screen and be said through the headphones. However if you want maximum speed you will want to ignore the audio completely as it takes a second or so for them to say it, while the direction on the screen comes up instantly.

Hello all, first time post here. Been lurking for months as I am looking to take the ASTB here shortly. Yesterday I got my X52 to practice on. Used the search bar and found the zips and deadzones/maps people claim to be good for practicing for the test on Jantzen's site.

With that being said, I'm running on 6000 min deadzone and 32000 max. With these settings does anyone else feel like it's impossible to trace the target? It feels as if the stick doesn't respond to any small input, then all of a sudden it overshoots for the moon, impossible to make small adjustments.

I know my hand-eye coordination isn't absolutely terrible as I was getting 50% on the ASTB Prep App (with my fingers) and low 50s on the Jantzen site with a keyboard and mouse although I know it's different. If this is how it truly should feel, then I will work through it. Just looking for some personal opinions as I was shocked at how the HOTAS behaved. Thanks in advance.
