Like what I just told bcal... Page 50!Can someone give me a link to the actual at board list?
No Rick Rolls ?
I never saw a person with an LOR from a flag rank get picked up, one kid had an LOR from a 3 star that was his uncle, and applying to the same designator as his uncle, he was denied as his scores just were good enough. Now I’m no doctor, but those 3 stars are not calling NRC and leaning on them for faster results. That guy on this board I’m sure has some great LORs from the 3 stars, and no doubt it will help, but I very much doubt it will affect the speed of results. But who cares in the long run, we’ll find out well before OCS dates or re-application deadlines.
I’m hoping it’s before thanksgiving though. The sooner the better for peace of mind!
That is the same info that has been listed for 15+ years and the selection data has yet to support what they have listed as factors. In the pdf for the AUG2021 board result, page 10-11, they mentioned on what factors that were taken into consideration when selecting applicants. As you can see I don't have really higher ups LOR, but I still believe they do help in such extent.
For reference 02AUG thread has the results on page 80.Side note, the last air warriors thread I was a part of for the last board said that if we don’t get to 100 pages before the results come out then it’s bad juju
Here's a link to the previous board results if you're curious. Can someone give me a link to the actual at board list?

Why is it that they say that there are other factors that matter when selecting when it seems like they only care about astb scores? That is the same info that has been listed for 15+ years and the selection data has yet to support what they have listed as factors.
The thing is aviation is the only designator that takes people with any degree that has a 2 year long training cycle where the aptitude test is the best predictor of them getting through the process. A person can have a great GPA and great LOR's, but if the aptitude test says they have a low chance of making it through the pipeline you have to go with the odds.
It seems like it is like any other board review of applications. If an application has 5 components, few of them are usually prioritized (GPA / ASTB). BUT, other application components, if they are really strong, should bring up your chances. Why is it that they say that there are other factors that matter when selecting when it seems like they only care about astb scores?
To be politically correct as the USN touts the "whole person concept", that kind of works for some designators, often smaller ones but they most still pick those with high GPA's. The technical ones (Nuke/CEC/CWE/Aviation) have to go with what will get them through the program or training pipeline. Why is it that they say that there are other factors that matter when selecting when it seems like they only care about astb scores?
Kind of, the number of people selected for aviation with no LOR's and minimal statements over the years is staggering. I have seen applicants who technically should have been selected on the "whole person concept" as they had high GPA, athletes, leadership experience, and volunteer experience but their scores were 5 or 6 so they were not. I have seen applicants who did literally nothing in college except go to school who had high PFAR's get selected and have don't quite well so well that I can't think of being told of one who didn't make it to the fleet as an pilot. It seems like it is like any other board review of applications. I know from AD perspective I personally know 3 people who were picked up for Aviation (2 NFO and 1 SNA) their scores were 5’a and 4’s with the SNA having a 6 PFAR. They all were picked up within the last three or so years but all three dropped out of the pipeline for one reason or another. They all had very good appraisals. To be politically correct as the USN touts the "whole person concept", that kind of works for some designators, often smaller ones but they most still pick those with high GPA's. I don't know how accurate this is but I was told that 20 or so years ago that board selections were made by pilots and nfo's, and they focused not on the ASTB, and that the drop rate in the pipeline was not acceptable to NRC was given control of selections for aviation and several other designators. If the aviation board members follow what NRC fixed things should be fine, however when selections were given back to SWO, Supply, and IWC they have still managed to screw it up over the years.
