From February SWO board on March 26th:
I have a copy of the official results list by name, OR sent it over. So either contact your OR, look on the portal, or DM me if you want me to break the news. ?

The Feb 22nd SWO board took until March 26th for official results to all roll in. So 24 business days...

We're at 16 business days. But the aviation board sees more applications so my guess is our results could take longer than SWO

It's comforting to know if we don't get pro-rec Y, we may actually be told why. Therefore, what to improve on to resubmit...

Anyone know how long the SWO board results took to come out?

That would be interesting to see if they actually do, of course if reason is low GPA can't do much, or if ASTB and a person retakes but then the average ASTB on the next board goes up doesn't really help.

There is a reason the board doesn't give feedback, and that is that feedback is generally only good on that specific board as the slate of candidates changes. The feedback could of course be more DNR's.

NRC is always recalculating the selection criteria based on who is selected but it really doesn't change that much.

Can your references make or break your application?
I'm sure if you had someone say you sucked or had the President give you a referral those could make or break, but Im sure like with every board its a combination of factors and you never know what they're going to value. Or if you're being compared by an identical person for the last slot and your only differences are references then sure

Understood. Thanks.

In your opinion and experience, how much freedom are board members given to make subjective decisions? NRC provides the minimum requirements, I know. However, do they also give board members soft requirements, such as "don't send us anyone without a degree in science, unless they have flight experience"? I hope that a board member has quite a bit of subjective decision power but I assume they all have to stand behind their ProRecY's personally.

You have mentioned before that each board chooses their own filters. For example, one board may decide to automatically cut everyone below a certain GPA or with a drug offense waiver, just to cut down the number of applications to look at.

I hope this supposed feedback includes some of the board specific criteria they used.

I know actual officer promotion boards typically get split up into three categories... the cream of the crop based on performance selects without much conversation, and the bottom tier doesn't really get talked about either. The "crunch" is what I've heard the middle tier described as, and this is made up of the relatively average guys. This tier is what takes the most time for deliberation, and factors beyond the objective metrics would come up at this point.

It would make sense if our board occurred similarly. If so, an 80 9/9/9 applicant wouldn't have much time at all spent looking at their references or personal statement. The same is probably true if you barely qualified. Those things would come into play when they've gotta make the tough calls

Good news is that based on the picture @villo0692 posted they’re working on sending the results to recruiters and that was from two days ago so we should hear back this week or next.
