Yea, that makes sense.I hate to be negative, but I think the numbers in those reports are actually reflecting people being commissioned during that Fiscal Year from the STA-21 pipeline. That would explain why there are no Core #'s.

Yeah, sadly I would agree. I did not mean to put false information out there, that is why I put out the disclaimer. Just something to look at. Of course, I was excited to see it. These are just forums for sharing information and thats what I did.I hate to be negative, but I think the numbers in those reports are actually reflecting people being commissioned during that Fiscal Year from the STA-21 pipeline. Well it's nice to kind of see some of the "competition". Not many people apply for the med corps since it is pretty much a life commitment. I have my AA degree. My LOR's are pretty conventional. I have one from the Base skipper, Flight surgeon, Physics teacher and a Divo.
That's one thing that really turned me on to this community actually. I have always wanted to be an engineer, but the EDO's that I have dealt with have all but stood on their head's to help me out in any way that they could. I'm very impressed with the comraderie they exhibit.
It sounds like you've had a great opportunity to gain insight into the inner workings of the community. I work on a base this is mainly focused on the creation and testing of weapons/combat systems. I work on the Aegis radar so I'd like to get into the Combat Systems Acquisition side of things. I think it would be outstanding to affect the implementation of the newest technology that is being sent to our Sailors on the waterfront.Yeah, the two Admirals wrote me amazing LOR and the Captain that worked nearby did everything he could to help me out. He did a ton of work to help me setup my outside board, called around to get other EDOs on it, introduced me to admirals around here to get my name out there, invited me over to his work so he could show me what he did and even the various Diving and Salvage jobs he's run and how he ran them.... He even (after everything was said and done) invited me to his retirement ceremony and reception. All of that and he wasn't even a part of my normal Chain of Command.
He wasn't the only EDO that helped me of course but he definitely was a huge help for me and I owe him a lot. He's one of the reasons that if I get selected for ED that I plan to go into the SUPSALV portion of the community. Certainly helps that I'm already a diver in the Navy but seeing how tight the community is even at that level is awesome.
Btw, was wondering what part of the ED community you were looking at going into. Or have you decided that yet? I know its a ways off before we get that far but it is something I look forward to someday.
I told you that i had an interview with him lol.. What was wierd was that it was much easier to get an appointment to talk to him than my own CO!! Plus, I'm not sure how they perceive LOR's from officers that they know you don't have a strong working relationship with. I guess anybody could look good during thier 15 min interview...Jeez, Keith... where was your advice on the LORs when you were going behind my back to get the base CO's LOR?![]()
I sent the email out just now ... unfortunately I don't come back to work until tonight ... hopefully it'll be more than quotas by then.Anyone contact P-Cola to see if they are releasing quotas any time soon?
I would assume an LOR from someone that actually knows the person would hold more weight vs an LOR from a high ranking person ie, I would rather see an LOR from someone's maintenance officer than from a senator or an admiral who has never met the person but thats just me.Would they rather see a LOR from a LCDR in your command, or a LOR from a CAPT somewhere else?
Did you get an answer from P-Cola?I sent the email out just now ... unfortunately I don't come back to work until tonight ... hopefully it'll be more than quotas by then.
And no HR's. the HR option wasn't around 3-4 years ago which is why there would be no grads/commisions in the FY 11 report. the earliest for grads in that option I think would by FY13. With CORE, those officers numbers would be reflected in the designator they chose in there junior/senior year.I hate to be negative, but I think the numbers in those reports are actually reflecting people being commissioned during that Fiscal Year from the STA-21 pipeline. That would explain why there are no Core #'s.
You made my day. I was depressed thinking Oceanographer didn't have a quota this year.I hate to be negative, but I think the numbers in those reports are actually reflecting people being commissioned during that Fiscal Year from the STA-21 pipeline. That would explain why there are no Core #'s.
