JAN/FEB/MAR 2014 Rolling SNA and SNFO Boards

I was told today that 24 Feb is when a SNA/ SNFO board is expected to be held, results released in early March.

Who gave you that info if you don't mind my asking? That would be awesome!

I get that a lot of us are stressing about getting the front seat but if the board deems us not suitable for pilot and we have nfo as our second designation are we then equally evaluated for nfo?

I believe so? I don't think that a Pro Rec N for SNA is an official or unofficial thumbs down for SNFO, not that I have any experience, just based on what I've been told from my recruiter. Anyone else have any insight on this?

Well, good luck to all of you gentlemen (and/or women). I made the mistake of telling the full truth on my medical and listed that i had asthma when I was 7 (truth be told, I was just a fat kid and out of shape). Never used an inhaler and It went away and I've been playing sports/an athlete for the last 14 years without symptom. Had a signed letter from my primary care physician for the last 14 years saying I never received further treatment and in his professional opinion I am free of all asthma symptoms.

So naturally, due to my abudance of asthma related issues (hahaha......), MEPS wants me to get a pulmonary function test and an asthma waiver which will cause me to miss this board.

Truth telling for the win.

i made the same mistake which was why I missed the December board. The turn around on the test was fast though, went to a clinic and said I'd pay cash and they had my results sent to the OR that day. 108% overall for pulmonary function test...what a joke. git 'er done quick and you may have a shot

ps: I'm regretting not putting DCS Huey flight hours in my package, still wrestling with vortex ring state

I would imagine it's better to be honest upfront about it. Wouldn't they find out if you had asthma previously later on anyway? Hope you can get a turnaround fast.

I missed the December board because my cholesterol, while in the normal range, was higher on the normal range than they were comfortable with (I'm in great shape, beats me...), and I had to get an extra test done, which I also had to pay cash for w/ a note from the Dr saying I was good to go. What a headache.

Good luck! Get it done soon and pray and you never know what might happen.

dawg, they didn't PDQ you, so suck it up and go get the function test & waiver completed ASAP, if you really want the program. Yes, you may miss the next board but you are still in the game.;)

No No, it would have been a big mistake not to, likely an automatic drop if/when they found out checking your medical history.
Truth telling for the win.
Truth telling IS a win. For a future Officer. personal integrity must be beyond question!

Good luck on your medical function test and waiver.:)

I know BzB, I just found out and vented to people who actually can understand what I'm saying. Just a bit of a rant :)

AmericanJoe, did you just go to an urgent care or a specific asthma/allergy clinic? I'm trying to get this done by Friday. Then it will take like 5 days for MEPS to respond, then actually go to MEPS and like 3-5 days for a PQ.

I think I'm out of time but I'm still gonna try and see if I can't get it in

4 pages later I'm finally caught up with everyone. I guess that's what I get for leaving my iPad home today.

I'm praying for results before the end of February, so here's to the rumors being true!

You never know - push hard to get this done!

Also it pays to ask if there are multiple (MEPS/ N3M) issues holding up your application or just the one. I would have made the Dec13 board if they told me to solve two paperwork problems concurrently instead of in sequence..

They want the pre-post bichrondrial (spl?) PFT. And then a letter from that doctor with his final disposition, because apparently a disposition from my primary care physician doesn't count. I'll be praying that's all they need but who knows

The test they look for is one that is given by a specialist, a pulmonary function test isn't something you can get at urgent care or the normal doc.

MEPS doesn't give the PQ, it is N3M, so you need to add up to 5 working days for them, total realistic time if all goes smooth is 15 working days for everything to get done once you submit the PFT to MEPS.
