No, I had several upgrades to my packet since my last board to include...finishing my BAS (submitted on my last semester the first time), re-did my entire motivational statement (included a lot more leadership and motivational qualities), picked up 1st Class and made Lead Training Officer (was a BM2 on my first go round with no official title), added another EP eval, my 100+ volunteer service hrs (had no volunteer work initially), and much better LORs from my chain and civilian occupation.

I sure hope this was enough...If I get another Pro Rec N, then I'm gonna have no choice but to retake my astb. My OR said my score now is good for swo but somewhere in the 50s is where you wanna be. Was kinda hoping my gpa would counter balance my astb score.

It sure would be nice for both of us to get picked up. Your stats are competitive too, so all there is to do now is wait....just wish I had an idea of just how long that wait was gonna be.

i cant wait until my package is offically sent off out of my CoC hands. I have had alot of backlash for submitting this Officer package but i know it will be worth it. Once selected. Best of luck my brother.

What do you need to have done to submit your application? I've done all the stuff that I was told to do initially (APSR, LORs, ASTB, NASIS, birth certificate etc etc). I've just given back my MEPS paperwork. Do you need to go to MEPS before you submit? Does your NASIS have to be approved before you submit?

Good thread, by the way... my stats are in my signature. I'm patient, but of course I want to wait as little as possible before this happens. I'm not even sure my OR knows there are rolling boards. I'm trying to think of a tactful way of asking for an updated schedule for submitting the application.

yes yes and yes. The ENTIRE checklist needs to be complete. NASIS/JPAS needs to be open (meaning fingerprints done - which should be done at MEPS)

I am literally days away from being able to actually submit my package to Millington. I am hung up on one thing that I cannot seem to clarify. NavyOffRec, perhaps you can help me out here sir. I am currently 26, but enlisted active duty. I turn 27 next month.

Program Auth States:

"For applicants with prior active duty military service, waivers must be granted on a month-to-month basis up to 24 months for active duty served prior to their 27th birthday, to a maximum age of 29."

What exactly does month-to-month basis mean? Do I need to get an age waiver for my package? If yes, is there a template or form that I should use for the formal request? how far will this set me back, weeks, months? I was hoping to get this thing out next week.

month to month means for every month of AD time you will be granted a month past the maximum age, for AD you need to contacted the OCM, there are several AD guys on here that can give you very specific guidance on how to do that.

I haven't been on AW for a while because of my new job that has consumed my life. I will update my stats and profile soon... Anyways, I'm here because my recruiter tells me that the SWO board is closed. Is this true?

Welp, I sure hope that's not true.

I spoke with my OR, basically the selection board hasn't been given their budget for the year, but they are continuing to accept good quality SWO packages. When the budget is given they'll know how many opening there are right now, and if your a good quality applicant and there isn't any room your ship date will be moved (I was told possibly to summer). I was told that this happens every year and usually once spring comes around there are more openings to be filled. According to my OR, the board should be meeting in a week or two. Good luck to us!

I applied to the Intel board last August and did not get picked up and I had SWO as my number 2 choice and I was told that the SWO board would not even review my application. On here it looks like the SWO board will only review your application if SWO is a first choice. But, I am wondering if there is anyway I can improve my application.

23 y/o
non-active duty
GPA 3.0 Middle East Studies
OAR 58
3 LOR 2 employers 1 personal reference

I obviously can't go back to school and improve my GPA, but should I retake the OAR? Also when I applied back in August I had been working at a job for only a couple of months and they had just hired a supervisor for my department who I didn't feel comfortable asking for a LOR. I can now get 3 LOR from supervisors at my job, will this help my application? I also have a good friend who is LTJG SWO officer right now, if I had him do a recommendation would it do any good?

Also I was thinking if I didn't get in, by going the active duty route. Does being AD improve your chances?

Thanks

Can't speak with any authority that comes from experience, but what I've gathered on here is that 58 is more than adequate to get picked up for SWO.

A 58 is above average and more than enough to get selected for any designator. In my opinion, your OAR is fine but need more LORs boosting your leadership and motivational qualities and extracurricular activities. If you know any former or current active duty officers, then get an LOR from them as well. Any volunteer work is also a big plus and highly recommended. And from what my OR told me was that being AD gives the board members a better understanding of who you are since they will have evaluations, NAMs, positional authority, qualifications, etc... to go off of, which I think does better ones chances. You are still young so going enlisted is still an option for you but not necessary since many civilians with similar stats were selected on previous boards.

Your package can also be improved and having more is better than having less.
