So this all means that they are being more selective than the last board right? Longer length = More scrutiny and screening for fewer positions to be filled?

Not entirely, there is not steadfast rule about how long these things take. Trust me when your deployed in the middle of the med and you have to run down from the flight desk to look for a advancement list (hard copy), you wish there was.

You would think that if they have everything done and squared away, they could just send a list out online as soon as it was completed so we could stop waiting in agony!

When you are happily an ensign in the Navy, you will get very used to "hurry up and wait". It's the same thing for every program application and promotion cycle. There is always misery and painful waiting

You mean "IF" I become a happy ensign in the navy! Oi...I think I could get through waiting for a promotion a TON easier if I knew I had a job in front of me to do to keep me busy. I've already started making flashcards for the knowledge portion of OCS, but I can't help but hear that voice in my head screaming "Why are you making these without even knowing you need them yet??" I said when in purpose! promotions suck too, trust me haha. I've waited for sta21 before, I know your pain. I will be in your shoes in December. Let me know how OCS is.

Haha. Thank you for the confidence in me. I appreciate it! Hopefully those who decide my navy officer fate will be just as confident in my favor. I wish you the best of luck! Hopefully the two of us will get exactly what we are hoping for. And as for promotions...yes, I really do think that having to wait for anything you really want has got to be terribly painful. I wish we could do something to change this aspect of the military!
