Which watch?

Just personally, set the goal high (Omega/Rolex/etc), that way when you get it, it will matter that much more. I bought my Explorer II 5 years ago now and it still brings a smile to my face every time I look at it. I know what it took to get it, so it has intrinsic value. Rolex specifically, if you can find it at retail, it will likely never depreciate.

Oh and I wear a Garmin fitness band on the other wrist for basic fitness stuff.

Oh, I definitely plan on buying a Speedmaster at some point in the future - probably when I retire, but right now I'm sticking to the less expensive stuff. I just want a good suggestion for a 3-figure watch to fill the last spot in my display case. I think I'm still leaning toward a Moonswatch Mission to Earthphase. I think they're cool and unique, if kind of a horrible value for the price. I guess technically it is the cheapest way to get a watch with a legitimate "Speedmaster" on the dial. Maybe someone has a suggestion that I haven't thought of. Something with a unique complication would be cool.

The Hamilton is a dressier watch, but truthfully at $600 you get what you pay for. The lume is extremely underwhelming...

I agree. I don't look at my Hamilton as a tool, it's a piece of jewelry. Even my Skyhawk, with all of it's aviation tools, is basically an accessory. In fact, the same can be said for all of my analog watches.

If I was going to wear one of them in the cockpit though, especially at night, there's no contest. I'd grab the Luminox. That's literally what their entire line is built for - those glass tubes are guaranteed to glow for 25 years. Sure, the watch is made of (very durable) plastic, but it's still a Swiss watch with a Sapphire crystal, great water-resistance rating, super easy to read - day or night - and it's probably the most comfortable watch I own. Honestly, I bought it as a novelty just because I always wanted a Luminox and never really expected to wear it, but it's become my daily wear if I don't want something fancier. As an added bonus, I picked it up for less than $150.

Any Breitling Aerospace EVO owners out there? Watch needs a new battery, but I’m tired of waiting breitilings ridiculous service times.

Went to the boutique and the guy kinda spooked me with circuit failure possibility’s of the battery change isn’t done right.

I don’t think he was trying to scare me into using Breitling service bc he told me to check out Feldmar watch in LA. Which is still pretty far from me.

Has anyone had or heard of any success/problems with non OEM shop battery changes?

That's a nice one. I like Tags. Jomashop has it for $1445. I've used them for several of my watches and they're really good. For me, though, I'm only planning to have one 4-figure watch (for now, at least) and I'm holding out for an automatic with a chronometer.

Watched David Allen Coe almost start a riot in a 400 person show. He sang a few songs, and a few people started dancing near the stage. He stopped, cussed everyone out for about 5 minutes and explained that he was not a dance hall singer.... Walked out about 10 minutes into the show never to return. Luckily, myself and the one other deputy were left to deal with 400 drunk, mad, anti authoritarian David Allen Coe fans.

It was great!

I continue to do Metallica…it’s just that during conversation this morning with mrs. mad dog, the outlaw country topic came up (specifically regarding David Allan Coe) and we listened to a few David Allan Coe songs…so now I really dig David Allan Coe.

Roger that, sir. Regarding it being an entry level Speedmaster, I believe it would be pretty good for that…but it really boils down to what you like. If you like it, go for it, sir.

Omega automatic movements are quite robust and are famous for not needing much service.

39mm and only a simple date complications. Sapphire crystal.

Assuming you take care of it it should retain a decent portion of its value. I'm not sure if this is 19 or 20mm lug width - would look great paired with a NATO strap.

It's a good looking watch. Not waterproof, so mind that.

There are some decent deals on Speedmaster Moon Watch 1860 - 2015 era for a little more $$.

Back in service, albeit a different route than planned. According to Swatch, all it needed was a new battery. We'll see if the movement stays true.
